I visited Brussels today with the FDP as part of an invited bus trip. The most interesting part was speaking with a European FDP deputy and his staff. Brussels's EU quarter has a corporate atmosphere reminiscent of Frankfurt. The visit gave me a clearer perspective on how the European Union operates. The mix of skilled international professionals was exceptional and seldom encountered elsewhere. It made me reconsider how fragile the Union's bonds truly are.
